What is a BAD IMEI Blocked or Blacklisted Phone? Will unlocking fix it?

More often than not – we get the question “can you unlock my phone?” from people with blocked or blacklisted phones.
Before answering that question, a few definitions.
Unlocking a Phone: Phones in the USA are usually locked to carriers. AT&T phones can only be used on AT&T, Tmobile on Tmobile – unless you unlock them. This allows you to use an AT&T phone with a Tmobile sim card and vice versa. Although Bad IMEI phones can be unlocked, THIS DOES NOT FIX A BAD IMEI PHONE.
Blacklisted Phone – this is a phone which has been reported LOST OR STOLEN to the carrier. The carrier will now Block the phone from being used on its towers, and it is essentially useless as a phone in the USA.
For example: You buy a tmobile phone from ebay, it works fine for 3 months and then stops. You call tmobile, and they tell you the phone has been reported lost or stolen. Its been BLACKLISTED. As Tmobile shares their Blacklisted phone list with AT&T, and AT&T shares their list with Tmobile your phone will be Blocked from using their towers. Since most sub carriers that use sim cards like straight talk, simple mobile, h20, Red Pocket, family mobile etc piggy back on either Tmobile or AT&T towers, you won’t be able to use any of these unless your BAD IMEI is remedied.
Blocked Phone – this is a phone which has an unpaid bill balance or, early termination fees were not paid on the contract . This phone is barred from the carrier towers as well. If it is an AT&T phone it cannot be used with AT&T, and more often than not even if it is unlocked, you’ll be unable to use the phone on most carriers.
So Yes, Bad IMEI phones can be unlocked. We do it everyday. Once unlocked they can be used outside the usa without issue – but how much longer that will be the case is debatable. Just remember, unlocking does not fix a bad IMEI or ESN situation.

Tmobile and MetroPCS do use the same towers. You may be able to get a bad IMEI repaired if it is a Samsung Phone. But you would also need it unlocked so it would accept the metro card.

I have a IMEI balance on a Tmobile iphone 5s but it hasn’t been blacklisted since I am continuing to make payments. I want to sell it (to lower the balance but I will still owe some money on it) but I don’t want someone to get screwed if they blacklist it even though they say they won’t as long as I continue to make payments. Is there anything that can be done to the phone like unlock/jailbreak/fix imei should tmobile blacklist it? Do I have any options other than waiting to sell it until it’s paid off?
If you sell and use the money to pay off the amount owed, whoever buys the phone will be fine. As long as you continue to make payments the phone will remain operational.

It is better to purchase at&t as tmobile usa will not factory unlock any bad imei phone, a bad imei tmobile can still be unlocked with an rsim, but given a choice the at&t is the better purchase. The bad imei phone can be unlocked for use with vodaphone egypt.
me and my wife both have a g900t..my question is well….we have an unpaid balance..the phones are saying not registered on network also when i do a check on the imei at esn check or swappa…it says its only blocked to tmobile..what are my options?can i use an imei from our old tmobile s3…or will they work with attt?verizon or sprint
YOur only option is to have the IMEI repaired. tmobile phones will not work with verizon or sprint. They are only compatible with carriers like simple mobile at&t red pocket and so on.

don’t upgrade to ios8. If you have, downgrade immediately to ios7. You will need the rsim air2. Once you have that you should be fine for overseas.

hello. you will have to have it unlocked. Tmobile will not allow a factory on this phone only a manual rsim unlock will work. once it is outside the usa it will work fine

I just recently bought a two secondhand iPhone 4 from Facebook, an 8GB and 16GB configurations. The 8GB is locked unto TMobile Orange GB and the 16GB is O2 GB. I contacted O2 and they said that the iPhone 4 16GB I have is reported lost or stolen. The question is can I unlock this and use this in the Philippines? At the moment there is no factory unlock for blacklisted tmobile iphones – and the rsim/xsim/gpp unlock for iphone 6 has not yet been released. They should not be able to block the phone if you did not purchase it from them. That doesn’t preclude them from trying. ask apple why your phone isn’t unlocked.

You can unlock it an move to metro pcs, but depending on the carrier its currently on it may still be blocked for nonpayment. Pay your bill and you won’t have that issue.

you can easily unlock it to work with another, less expensive service. Please note that if you do not satisfy the terms of contract ATT will block your phone from use on all towers in the USA

If TElus policy is similar to the carriers and the usa, the phone will be blocked from gsm networks in canada even if it is unlocked. Once outside canada it should work fine.

I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy G4 phone that I was making monthly payments on with my T-Mobile plan. Since T-Mobile didn’t offer a plan to give me more for my buck (unlimited data), I decided to go over to Metro PCS, which offered unlimited talk, text and data for $60. T-Mobile only gave me unlimited talk, text and 500 MB of data a month for the same price, so I switched. I still plan on paying T-Mobile for the phone (I still owe $417 on it), but they want it paid off in three months, which under my financial situation, I can’t afford make those payments in the time they are giving me, and they said that is the maximum. They said if it’s not paid by the time frame they give me that they will block it (I guess you guys call it blacklist), and then Metro PCS will not work on it.
My question is if there is a way to override T-Mobile’s block, should it occur, and still allow Metro PCS to work on it? Is there a way to do rig the phone so that T-Mobile can’t block it? I’m not trying to get away from paying it, but I can only pay so much monthly, and they don’t want to work with me that way. What can I do?

Hello. We provide unlocking services for only clean imei tmobile iphones. There are factory unlocks available for blacklisted tmobile iphones on ebay. They run somewhere around $130
hi, I have a iPhone 5s that i bought from apple unlocked and turned it on via tmobile. I didn’t pay the bill and I tried to turn on the service via metro pcs and the sim had no issues but when inputed the imei # the phone won’t switch over. Im assuming the phone is blacklisted. Is there a way to unblacklist the imei# to work in the us? you were mentioning above phone carriers such as att and tmobile share data info what about other vendors? was trying to use phone as a pay as you go phone card. Its kind of hard for tmobile to blacklist a phone they never owned in the first place. If you did buy it from apple unlocked, i’d start there. ie at apple. Metro uses tmobile towers, so if they did put a block on your imei, metro or any other tmobile sub carrier cannot be used. Switch to an AT&T sub carrier like net 10 or H20 and try that out.

yes you can unlock and switch carriers, but if you stop paying your att bill or you have a balance owed on the phone it will become blocked from all cell towers.

If you mean out of the country, then you can have it unlocked but as its blacklisted its going to cost quite a bit. it won’t be able to be used on tmobile network in the usa again.

Hello, I want to buy an unlocked celllphone from someone on craigslist but how do I check to see if the iemi is good? I used a website to check my iPhone as a test and it’s not blacklisted but I’m still paying on it. There is no foolproof way to buy a used phone. You can check the imei today and its good, tomorrow the person you bought it from reports it stolen and its bad. If it has an outstanding bill or a payment plan for ETF it can go bad as well. So yes, if you stopped paying it would then show up as blacklisted.

There isn’t any. Once your icloud lock is on no one will be able to get past it. What works for some people is to post a message on icloud lock saying contact the owner for return reward.

Hi, I found a T-Mobile Nexus phone and its reported as Lost/Stolen on the blacklist. Is there anyway were I can activated it into Metro Pc, Virgin mobile and/or boost mobile?
I have switched providers from Tmobile to metro about a month ago a LG2 and a Flex. I had a balance before i switched over but only had issues with the Flex. I had it unblocked and worked fine with metro.
But now the LG2 phone that was not unblocked is blacklisted and does not work but the Flex still works.
What would you recomend i do? Also will the Flex stop working even though it was unlocked before the block was in place?
If both phones are on your account and there is an outstanding balance or unpaid early termination fee Yes, your phones will be blocked. Pay your bill, you won’t have an issue.

Whoever you text is not likely to help. Theres not much you can do in this case. There may be blacklisted tmobile iphone unlock services available to purchase on ebay. However, those are subject to be pulled at any point in time so the sooner you get there, the better.

Verizon iphone 4 doesn’t have a sim card slot. Only the 4s and up do. if it turns out you do have an iphone 4s you’ll need to find someone who knows how to manually unlock it.
i got an iPhone 5 from an acquaintance who worked at a gym, they were clearing out their lost & found. Before getting it activated I checked the IMEI # and it was reported to be lost or stolen and is on the national blacklist in Canada. To use any phone on another network the sim slot must be unlocked, and carrier networks must be a similar technology – gsm to gsm. you do need to factory unlock it to use in the middle east. The phone will be blacklisted inside the usa only

Yes, if you buy or receive as a gift any phone that is tied to someone else under a carrier contract, the original owner can report it lost or stolen at any time and it will become blacklisted
I bought a iPhone 6 from sprint on November 24th in the US. On December 17th I flew out of the U.S. to Poland to visit family. This was a week before the first phone bill was due apparently but my account bills are set on automatic payment. I returned January 6th 2015 and now the sprint service does not work. Wifi only works. I tried calling sprint customer service but the voice machine tells me that I can not call them from my area. I also tried accessing my sprint account from sprint.com by entering my phone number but it just said phone is not activated or has been cancelled. I don’t know what to do at this point. What exactly happened wrong.
I ordered the unlock iphone 6 service from one of the websites, they promised my phone will be unlocked in 0-3 business days…but after 10 days nothing happen, and I try to reach them by email, got the respond said they still need 3-10 days, also asked me not to contact them for updates. We get this question quite often – please be aware that Iphone unlocks and Samsung unlocks are being processed very slow at the moment. It is usually out of the control of unlockers. If you cancelled the payment chances are the unlock will not go through. As long as it is not blacklisted an unlocker does not have the ability to blacklist your phone.

Sorry, there’s no fix for a z3 that we are aware of – in the uk once this is blocked its blocked throughout the E.U. check your local shops – they may be more helpful

If the tmobile phone is blacklisted even if you do unlock it you cannot use it on metropcs. Metro pcs uses tmobile towers. It will simply recognize the phone and shut it down.

No, it is not useable in the usa. There is no way to change an imei on an iphone. No matter what you see on youtube. Unfortunately people fall for this and end up paying for a service that does not exist.

If you knew it was stolen when you bought it then you have a problem. There’s nothing you can do with this phone in any case. You may as well turn it in.

Hello. There is a difference between unlock and un-block. Unlocking only frees the sim slot to be used with another carrier. When a phone is blocked it does not have access to cellular towers. There are sometimes fixes, but it differs by phone and carrier. A solution for a note 3 tmobile is not the same as a solution for a sprint iphone. If this is your phone, pay the etf. If you don’t your phone will eventually become blocked, There are services which will allow you to use a blocked s5, but these are not cheap either. Some folks who fix the s5 are finding the phone becomes blocked again so choose wisely.

You will need to speak with Tmobile on that. Once a tmobile iphone is blacklisted in usa theres nothing you can do with it unless tmobile reverses the block
I had an iphone 6+. It was said to be factory unlock. As I saw the screen “Congratulations! You iphone has been unlocked now.” on the screen of the person I bought from Craglist. But, after using for 1 month, I called up Tmobile, they said the phone was reported as “Lost and Stolen”.

So my gf and I have a Nexus 5 and a Galaxy S4 on T-Mobile – basically we got behind on the bill – she decides to take our phones to her mom’s Tmobile family plan – we got new sim cards and everything was fine. Today both phones were blocked because of the unpaid bill. Based on what your site says – this means both phones are useless even if they are unlocked. If true that’s terrible because we can’t sell them either.
My question: Are we done with these phones forever or is there a remedy that would make them active again on Tmobile?

If you had synced to a google account you’ll be able to recover your contacts in that manner. Yes its possible with the right know how they can unblock your phone and use it. It would have to be completely wiped but there is a way around your password.

A friend of mine works at AT&T and recently gave me an HTC Desire Eye. It’s not a phone TMobile carries. It’s also unlocked, so phone functionality works fine. The problem is no Internet, even after entering T-Mobiles APN settings. I did a IMEI check on T-Mobile site, and it came back as it didn’t recognize the IMEI, understandable. I even took it to T-Mobile to have them double check settings, but still no Internet. Before switching SIM’s for this phone I had Internet on my old phone. Could the IMEI be blocked for Internet use?
There are any number of reasons (both hardware and software) that could cause a data issue. You may need a new sim. The phone’s data function might be impacted by dirty contact points/corrosion/an unconnected cable or you may need to reset the phone or reflash it with software. If the phone gets voice you should also get data. Unless, of course this is not really an AT&T phone but an unlocked international version which does not have the bands you need in the usa. Take it to a local repair store and have them look at it.

Hello. Once it is unlocked yes it can be used outside the usa. Tmobile blacklisted phones have a possibility of being re locked, but as long as you follow instructions from whoever you unlock with you should be fine. Thank you for the Thanks!

Its never a good idea to buy a phone that has an unpaid bill or a balance on the ETF (early termination fee). Your options really depend on what the make and model of this tmobile phone is.

A note 4 is north of $700 retail. While we don’t know under which circumstances you purchased the phone – getting a note 4 for $200 should make anyone suspicious. Reasonable is relative. Totally depends on the carrier.

The sprint iphone 6 can definitely be unlocked for use with gsm services like att or tmobile. However because the phone is blocked it will not work in the usa.

I have an jailbroken iphone 4s on tmobiles network with a cracked glass good lcd. Bought an iphone 4s from Canada with an Apple ID lock just for the lcd. I only switched out the logic board from my 4S on tmobile’s network into the 4S from Canada. Powered on & i got all my files, wifi working but my cellular is reading as no service. There is an initial search & comes back as “No Service” or Maybe not because theres no reaction when i eject or insert SIM card. I think theres suppose to be a reaction? Am i getting a blacklisted issue? Should i also switch my cellular attenae from my original 4s on tmobile’s network into the new 4S?
The hardware in the 4s phone is the same across all networks. Its possible the cell signal antenna was not properly connected, or the sim card reader in the new phone is faulty. You can check with tmobile’s website to see if your logic board was listed as blocked or blacklisted. Any of these may be responsible for the no service issue.
So I bought a droid ultra for about $30 from a friend. The imei or ESN is reported stolen; however, its working fine. It is a Verizon phone, but I removed the old sim card and popped in my own AT&T SIM card. Why is it working and/or will it turn off in the future?
Your phone works because the Verizon phone is unlocked, and it has not yet recognized the phone is operating on AT&T’s network. It may work for sometime, Can’t say 100% it will shut down or stay up in the future.

Hello. Bad imei tmobile phones are blocked automatically from metro pcs towers. This is because metro pcs uses tmobile’s towers to provide phone service. While it is possible to unlock a blacklisted tmobile iphone 5, the cost of the unlock may outweigh the value of the phone. We do not currently provide an unlock for this.

We can’t predict human behavior. Perhaps you got an honest person and the system is wrong. But if tmobile’s system is right and the phone is still being financed then it will probably go bad shortly after they stop paying.
Not sure what the issue is, but given that its tmobile and you’re overseas, you should be able to unlock it easily for it to accept a non usa sim card.

My now-exbf bought me an HTC Desire 610 from AT&T. He had it attached to his plan. When we broke up, I offered to give it back but he said keep it and do what I wanted with it. Hello this is now standard practice (asking for imeis) Its yet a further step to prevent the use of stolen phones/phones which have been financed and unpaid. Verizon phones (esp iphones) really can’t be used with other carriers. Though they do come unlocked from vz, once the phone is deemed blocked/blacklisted its sim slot is locked. If you can get him to pay the bill you’ll solve all your problems. Otherwise, there isnt anything we know of that will allow you to use this phone on sprint.

hello there is no fix for a Sony Phone that has been reported stolen – blacklisted or blocked. Unfortunatley there is no legal way to stop it from happening. The cell phone companies are the ones that enforce this policy

Yes, there is a way but it is involves a couple of steps. The Tmobile Avant cannot be simply unlocked like most of the other samsung phones. Check with a local independent phone dealer who does unlocking.

Mr. Wiggles, the unlock for tmobile iphones with bad imeis is still unstable, but It does work to unlock only. If you’re lucky – unlocking it will allow it to work on att. Not verizon or sprint. If you’re not so lucky, unlocking it will not help the situation.

It can be problematic as 1. This is a sprint phone which isn’t compatible with most other carriers. The sim card slot does not work for any other carrier but sprint. 2. Its a blacklisted phone. You can try local flashers. They may be able to get it working but carrier options are limited.

Sprint puts up alot of obstacles to unlock their phones, however if you are able to successfully unlock the sprint iphone it will work outside the usa.

Hello you cannot ‘unlock’ a blacklisted sprint phone and have it work in the usa. Even if unlocked it will work outside the usa only. The MSL is used in a process known as flashing – it does assist in that process.

Hello, this is a common mistake that second hand buyers make. While it is true that all verizon phones since the iphone 5 are unlocked for use with any compatible sim card provider once a verizon phone has a bad IMEI/ESN (is blocked for non payment or blacklisted because it has been reported lost or stolen), it becomes locked to verizon, and cannot be used with other providers. In the case of your iphone 5s, we can unlock this for you so it can be used in Brazil.

Hey guys, I just recently bought an Iphone 6 Plus off craigslist which is locked to SPRINT. Ive tried a few online and local stores to help me get it unlocked as I live in Canada(Vancouver) but they had no sucess and told me to contact Sprint. I contacted sprint today and found out the person the who the phone is linked to the account has an outstanding BALANCE of $2,000. The nexus 5 is a google phone, but if it is sprint activated there is a chance they may have disabled that capability. You can always test with a sim card from tmobile or att to see if it will even read it.

There’s nothing that can be done with a lost/stolen iphone from at &t that will allow it to work in the usa again, except to call at&t, and speak with them. As she already collected the insurance payout, there’s probably nothing you can do.

You didn’t mention what phone it was, but Tmobile phones with bad/blacklisted imeis are now being blocked in mexico. Tmobile now roams on towers in Mexico for free, reciprocally – they’ll shut down any tmobile bad imei phone.

There is no ‘cheapest one’ when it comes to unlocking a blacklisted phone. Fortunately your sprint iphone 6 can be unlocked. It could be worse. You could be stuck with a phone you cant unlock.

No, even unlocked it will be blocked across all networks in the usa. You can put your sim card in – it may work for a few hours but will be disabled quickly.

that’s tough. O2 doesn’t like to unlock blacklisted phones of any kind. Try looking on ebay to see if someone may have an unlock code. Chances are it’ll be banned throughout the eu however.

Sorry it took us a while, but if you’ve bought an iphone 6+ on ebay and found out it has been blacklisted afterwards, the best solution is to return the phone and get your money back via ebay buyer protection. If you have an unscrupulous seller who has waited until protection expired to report the phone stolen, there really isn’t much recourse.

I brought a iphone 6 from the USA it was with T-mobile. the phone everytime I reset it on the computer it says you phone is unlocked but when i go to used in the Colombian networks it works for 1-2 hours and then it says no service. The phone appears on the blacklist as lost or stolen. Can the phone IMEI be removed from the blacklist since it is already unlocked.

But If THEY Know It’s Black listed, (as of March 2015) and they Change the Imei number on the stolen phone, is there any way for the Sprint or other company to know that they new Imei number isn’t what came with the phone?
I guess it’s a 2 oart. When I typed that first question out, it got me thinking . It was Stolen Just Past Dec 18, 2014 and By Jan 11th, I was done keeping my mouth shut and said I knew it was taken. (The phone was new as of Oct 25th, 2014. But was Not hooked on Services through Sprint as of Oct 27, 2014. / I went to a different company and wish I never left.) Anyways.
If by chance from say Jan 2015 til March 2015 (3month) they had it hooked up to ANY type is company services and then I blasted it, the services would have gotten cut off, right? And would t the company that they was hooked to, have to turn that info in? How does that work?
Also, if by chance this person is that dumb, cause they left my account signed in on Google and i got some tracking… (longer story in there… ) Google seems to be No Help at all and I wish I could walk into the office of Google and give them not only the the slap that Wil knock out the Stutter of myself, but maybe slap some common sense into them. About a few ideas. How is it, if it’s not done already, how is no one being able to, first take that IMEI number from day one, and somehow program towers to read them, and also somehow see the old and the new IMEI number as one whole and GPS/Track?
To me it seems that some cell company’s aren’t to worried about the phones., ect.. it’s a write off I guess to rhem. But as a full time single mom of a not 15yr aon, and disability income… it’s caused a huge problem.

Since the new tmobile carrier agreement allows no charge roaming in mexico and canada its possible your us blocked tmobile iphone 5s may be blocked in canada as well. The Galaxy S6 AT&T can be unlocked and used in India. The LG G4 sprint however you’d have to find someone to manually unlock the gsm features of the phone.

The original carrier of any phone is the best place to check its true current status. if you cannot get help via their customer service, go into a store.

Any iphone that has been reported lost or stolen is relocked by the carrier. There is no way to unlock a blocked or blacklisted tmobile iphone at the moment.
My mom purchased an LG G4 . Less than 2 months ago when she was power of attorney for her brother. Its possible, given the circumstances you describe you’d have to decide if it was worth it to you to pay to have another carrier. As a sprint lost/stolen phone it carrier choices are limited, as are the services you will get . Try your local cell phone repair store or craigslist to see if anyone has services that may help you out.

However if this is an att iphone that has been blocked or blacklisted for non payment it will not work in the usa again. Neither will a blacklisted sprint phone.

Hello. A blacklisted sprint phone can be difficult to work with. Blacklisted means the phone has been reported lost or stolen and an insurance claim has been made. As far as the carrier is concerned this phone does not exist any longer on their network. Most blacklisted phones can be unlocked to work outside of the usa with a few exceptions, and some can be used in the usa. The sprint iPhone however, is not one of those. If it has been ‘blocked’ for non payment of bills it can be unlocked to use within the usa – however blacklisted – lost/stolen iphones on sprint will not work in the us once unlocked.

Sadly, people are still selling stolen phones to others, or selling their own phones then reporting them stolen.
Not everyone is committing fraud – but we encourage folks to shop at a carrier store or a multicarrier/ repair store. Those phones are really not likely to have those issues.

Tmobile and MetroPCS do use the same towers. You may be able to get a bad IMEI repaired if it is a Samsung Phone. But you would also need it unlocked so it would accept the metro card.

I have a IMEI balance on a Tmobile iphone 5s but it hasn’t been blacklisted since I am continuing to make payments. It is better to purchase at&t as tmobile usa will not factory unlock any bad imei phone, a bad imei tmobile can still be unlocked with an rsim, but given a choice the at&t is the better purchase. The bad imei phone can be unlocked for use with vodaphone egypt.

YOur only option is to have the IMEI repaired. tmobile phones will not work with verizon or sprint. They are only compatible with carriers like simple mobile at&t red pocket and so on.

I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy G4 phone that I was making monthly payments on with my T-Mobile plan. Since T-Mobile didn’t offer a plan to give me more for my buck (unlimited data), I decided to go over to Metro PCS, which offered unlimited talk, text and data for $60. T-Mobile only gave me unlimited talk, text and 500 MB of data a month for the same price, so I switched. I still plan on paying T-Mobile for the phone (I still owe $417 on it), but they want it paid off in three months, which under my financial situation, I can’t afford make those payments in the time they are giving me, and they said that is the maximum. They said if it’s not paid by the time frame they give me that they will block it (I guess you guys call it blacklist), and then Metro PCS will not work on it.
My question is if there is a way to override T-Mobile’s block, should it occur, and still allow Metro PCS to work on it? Is there a way to do rig the phone so that T-Mobile can’t block it? I’m not trying to get away from paying it, but I can only pay so much monthly, and they don’t want to work with me that way. What can I do?

Its kind of hard for tmobile to blacklist a phone they never owned in the first place. If you did buy it from apple unlocked, i’d start there. ie at apple. Metro uses tmobile towers, so if they did put a block on your imei, metro or any other tmobile sub carrier cannot be used. Switch to an AT&T sub carrier like net 10 or H20 and try that out.

There is no foolproof way to buy a used phone. You can check the imei today and its good, tomorrow the person you bought it from reports it stolen and its bad. If it has an outstanding bill or a payment plan for ETF it can go bad as well. So yes, if you stopped paying it would then show up as blacklisted.

There isn’t any. Once your icloud lock is on no one will be able to get past it. What works for some people is to post a message on icloud lock saying contact the owner for return reward.

I have switched providers from Tmobile to metro about a month ago a LG2 and a Flex. I had a balance before i switched over but only had issues with the Flex. I had it unblocked and worked fine with metro.
But now the LG2 phone that was not unblocked is blacklisted and does not work but the Flex still works.
What would you recomend i do? Also will the Flex stop working even though it was unlocked before the block was in place?

To use any phone on another network the sim slot must be unlocked, and carrier networks must be a similar technology – gsm to gsm. you do need to factory unlock it to use in the middle east. The phone will be blacklisted inside the usa only

Yes, if you buy or receive as a gift any phone that is tied to someone else under a carrier contract, the original owner can report it lost or stolen at any time and it will become blacklisted
I bought a iPhone 6 from sprint on November 24th in the US. On December 17th I flew out of the U.S. to Poland to visit family. This was a week before the first phone bill was due apparently but my account bills are set on automatic payment. I returned January 6th 2015 and now the sprint service does not work. Wifi only works. I tried calling sprint customer service but the voice machine tells me that I can not call them from my area. I also tried accessing my sprint account from sprint.com by entering my phone number but it just said phone is not activated or has been cancelled. I don’t know what to do at this point. I ordered the unlock iphone 6 service from one of the websites, they promised my phone will be unlocked in 0-3 business days…but after 10 days nothing happen, and I try to reach them by email, got the respond said they still need 3-10 days, also asked me not to contact them for updates. We get this question quite often – please be aware that Iphone unlocks and Samsung unlocks are being processed very slow at the moment. It is usually out of the control of unlockers. If you cancelled the payment chances are the unlock will not go through. As long as it is not blacklisted an unlocker does not have the ability to blacklist your phone.

If the tmobile phone is blacklisted even if you do unlock it you cannot use it on metropcs. Metro pcs uses tmobile towers. It will simply recognize the phone and shut it down.

No, it is not useable in the usa. There is no way to change an imei on an iphone. No matter what you see on youtube. Unfortunately people fall for this and end up paying for a service that does not exist.

Hello. There is a difference between unlock and un-block. Unlocking only frees the sim slot to be used with another carrier. When a phone is blocked it does not have access to cellular towers. There are sometimes fixes, but it differs by phone and carrier. A solution for a note 3 tmobile is not the same as a solution for a sprint iphone. If your note 3 was reported stolen you can try to turn it in to the owner or you’ll have to pay someone to get it addressed.

If this is your phone, pay the etf. If you don’t your phone will eventually become blocked, There are services which will allow you to use a blocked s5, but these are not cheap either. Some folks who fix the s5 are finding the phone becomes blocked again so choose wisely.

So my gf and I have a Nexus 5 and a Galaxy S4 on T-Mobile – basically we got behind on the bill – she decides to take our phones to her mom’s Tmobile family plan – we got new sim cards and everything was fine. Today both phones were blocked because of the unpaid bill. Based on what your site says – this means both phones are useless even if they are unlocked. If true that’s terrible because we can’t sell them either.
My question: Are we done with these phones forever or is there a remedy that would make them active again on Tmobile?

If you had synced to a google account you’ll be able to recover your contacts in that manner. Yes its possible with the right know how they can unblock your phone and use it. It would have to be completely wiped but there is a way around your password.

A friend of mine works at AT&T and recently gave me an HTC Desire Eye. It’s not a phone TMobile carries. It’s also unlocked, so phone functionality works fine. The problem is no Internet, even after entering T-Mobiles APN settings. I did a IMEI check on T-Mobile site, and it came back as it didn’t recognize the IMEI, understandable. I even took it to T-Mobile to have them double check settings, but still no Internet. Before switching SIM’s for this phone I had Internet on my old phone. Could the IMEI be blocked for Internet use?
There are any number of reasons (both hardware and software) that could cause a data issue. You may need a new sim. The phone’s data function might be impacted by dirty contact points/corrosion/an unconnected cable or you may need to reset the phone or reflash it with software. If the phone gets voice you should also get data. Unless, of course this is not really an AT&T phone but an unlocked international version which does not have the bands you need in the usa. Take it to a local repair store and have them look at it.

You can unlock it. But it will be blocked from use on all towers in the usa. If the phone is physically outside the usa it will function normally.

I have an jailbroken iphone 4s on tmobiles network with a cracked glass good lcd. Bought an iphone 4s from Canada with an Apple ID lock just for the lcd. I only switched out the logic board from my 4S on tmobile’s network into the 4S from Canada. Powered on & i got all my files, wifi working but my cellular is reading as no service. There is an initial search & comes back as “No Service” or Maybe not because theres no reaction when i eject or insert SIM card. I think theres suppose to be a reaction? Am i getting a blacklisted issue? Should i also switch my cellular attenae from my original 4s on tmobile’s network into the new 4S?
The hardware in the 4s phone is the same across all networks. Its possible the cell signal antenna was not properly connected, or the sim card reader in the new phone is faulty. You can check with tmobile’s website to see if your logic board was listed as blocked or blacklisted. Any of these may be responsible for the no service issue.

While it is possible to unlock a blacklisted tmobile iphone 5, the cost of the unlock may outweigh the value of the phone. We do not currently provide an unlock for this.

We can’t predict human behavior. Perhaps you got an honest person and the system is wrong. But if tmobile’s system is right and the phone is still being financed then it will probably go bad shortly after they stop paying.

My now-exbf bought me an HTC Desire 610 from AT&T. He had it attached to his plan. When we broke up, I offered to give it back but he said keep it and do what I wanted with it. When I refused to sleep with him again he reported it stolen and had it blocked and blacklisted. I found out that meant I couldn’t get it moved and couldn’t get it services through AT&T either. If you can get him to pay the bill you’ll solve all your problems. Otherwise, there isnt anything we know of that will allow you to use this phone on sprint.

Good morning, I have a galaxy mega from sprint. My husband took my phone during a dispute so I ordered a new one on my insurance. The sales rep at the store said if my husband returned my phone I could get this original back on and sell the new one. Unfortunately I found out this is not true. Can I get my phone flashed with someone else i checked it and its says sprint blocked it due to lost/stolen. I have all the original paperwork! Yes, there is a way but it is involves a couple of steps. The Tmobile Avant cannot be simply unlocked like most of the other samsung phones. Check with a local independent phone dealer who does unlocking.

Mr. Wiggles, the unlock for tmobile iphones with bad imeis is still unstable, but It does work to unlock only. If you’re lucky – unlocking it will allow it to work on att. Not verizon or sprint. If you’re not so lucky, unlocking it will not help the situation.

It can be problematic as 1. This is a sprint phone which isn’t compatible with most other carriers. The sim card slot does not work for any other carrier but sprint. 2. Its a blacklisted phone. You can try local flashers. They may be able to get it working but carrier options are limited.

Hello you cannot ‘unlock’ a blacklisted sprint phone and have it work in the usa. Even if unlocked it will work outside the usa only. The MSL is used in a process known as flashing – it does assist in that process.

While it is true that all verizon phones since the iphone 5 are unlocked for use with any compatible sim card provider once a verizon phone has a bad IMEI/ESN (is blocked for non payment or blacklisted because it has been reported lost or stolen), it becomes locked to verizon, and cannot be used with other providers. The nexus 5 is a google phone, but if it is sprint activated there is a chance they may have disabled that capability. You can always test with a sim card from tmobile or att to see if it will even read it.

There’s nothing that can be done with a lost/stolen iphone from at &t that will allow it to work in the usa again, except to call at&t, and speak with them. As she already collected the insurance payout, there’s probably nothing you can do.

You didn’t mention what phone it was, but Tmobile phones with bad/blacklisted imeis are now being blocked in mexico. Tmobile now roams on towers in Mexico for free, reciprocally – they’ll shut down any tmobile bad imei phone.

No, even unlocked it will be blocked across all networks in the usa. You can put your sim card in – it may work for a few hours but will be disabled quickly.

Sorry it took us a while, but if you’ve bought an iphone 6+ on ebay and found out it has been blacklisted afterwards, the best solution is to return the phone and get your money back via ebay buyer protection. If you have an unscrupulous seller who has waited until protection expired to report the phone stolen, there really isn’t much recourse.

But If THEY Know It’s Black listed, (as of March 2015) and they Change the Imei number on the stolen phone, is there any way for the Sprint or other company to know that they new Imei number isn’t what came with the phone?
I guess it’s a 2 oart. When I typed that first question out, it got me thinking . It was Stolen Just Past Dec 18, 2014 and By Jan 11th, I was done keeping my mouth shut and said I knew it was taken. (The phone was new as of Oct 25th, 2014. But was Not hooked on Services through Sprint as of Oct 27, 2014. / I went to a different company and wish I never left.) Anyways.
If by chance from say Jan 2015 til March 2015 (3month) they had it hooked up to ANY type is company services and then I blasted it, the services would have gotten cut off, right? And would t the company that they was hooked to, have to turn that info in? How does that work?
Also, if by chance this person is that dumb, cause they left my account signed in on Google and i got some tracking… (longer story in there… ) Google seems to be No Help at all and I wish I could walk into the office of Google and give them not only the the slap that Wil knock out the Stutter of myself, but maybe slap some common sense into them. About a few ideas. How is it, if it’s not done already, how is no one being able to, first take that IMEI number from day one, and somehow program towers to read them, and also somehow see the old and the new IMEI number as one whole and GPS/Track?

Its possible, given the circumstances you describe you’d have to decide if it was worth it to you to pay to have another carrier. As a sprint lost/stolen phone it carrier choices are limited, as are the services you will get . Try your local cell phone repair store or craigslist to see if anyone has services that may help you out.

Hello checkesnfree and other free checkers, while they do offer information are not always 100% correct. Without knowing what carrier the phone originates from we are not able to assist. However if this is an att iphone that has been blocked or blacklisted for non payment it will not work in the usa again. Neither will a blacklisted sprint phone.

It doesn’t come with a sim card I have to get one. But what do I do? Can I still get it activated with a SIM card with a different carrier or the same carrier ?
Hello. A blacklisted sprint phone can be difficult to work with. Blacklisted means the phone has been reported lost or stolen and an insurance claim has been made. As far as the carrier is concerned this phone does not exist any longer on their network. Most blacklisted phones can be unlocked to work outside of the usa with a few exceptions, and some can be used in the usa. The sprint iPhone however, is not one of those. If it has been ‘blocked’ for non payment of bills it can be unlocked to use within the usa – however blacklisted – lost/stolen iphones on sprint will not work in the us once unlocked.

I bought a phone on offer up. For TMobil carrier. I inserted my active SIM card and everything seemed legit. After 2 months the phone stopped working. I called TMobil they and told me that the previous owner had a balance on the phone. Can I pay to unlocked it and continue to use it.

I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 from Craigslist and when I tried to have service added to it, they said the phone is blacklisted.
It was previously a T-mobil phone, so I called them to try and have it unlocked. T-mobil claimes they need the account info to check into the phone, but obviously I don’t have that information. I even offered to pay off the remaining ballance at t-mobil, but they said they cannot provide any information without the original owner’s concent.
I tried calling the person who sold me the phone, but she will not return my calls. I tried using the unlock app that is on the phone, but that didnt work. Is there anything we can do to get this phone off the blacklist so we can get service on it?
Sadly, people are still selling stolen phones to others, or selling their own phones then reporting them stolen.
Not everyone is committing fraud – but we encourage folks to shop at a carrier store or a multicarrier/ repair store. Those phones are really not likely to have those issues.

I’ve got a T-Mobile galaxy J7 on an old plan. I have TMobile prepaid now. Just wondering if it’s possible to unblock that and use my sim. I’ve recently went to a wireless buybax and he was so happy to do that for the s6 edge+ that was on the same plan (cause he wanted to buy it for cheap). Double checking if hes correct that the same could not be done with the j7 before I go buy another.

its possible to unlock the j7 – you will have to buy the app unlock for Tmobile. This is slightly more expensive than a regular code unlock. Good luck!
