What causes the Flashing Apple logo or rebooting iphone?

Generally it’s one of 2 things.

  1. Software  – There is an issue with the IOS ( the software apple forces you to update ever so often)
  2.  Hardware – There is an issue with a physical part inside of the iphone

Software Fix

The easier of the 2 to fix is the ios software. If you don’t have enough memory (space) on your iphone to allow new updates to be processed, it can result in the flashing logo. Updates get stuck in the installation process and this causes the flashing apple logo. Another common problem is the phone’s battery dies during the ios update, leaving it incomplete again resulting in the flashing logo.

If this sounds like what happened to your phone,  place your iphone in recovery mode and connect to itunes. To keep all the data on your phone use the ‘Update’ function. If updating is not possible itunes will let you know you can only Restore the phone.   Hit the ‘Restore’ button and itunes will do the rest.

If you don’t have access to a laptop or desktop with itunes, stop by Mobile Lizard Cell Phone Repair, and within an hour we’ll have your phone updated and running .

Hardware fix

Hardware problems inside an iphone may vary  from a bad charging port, to a damaged face id sensor,  board damage from repeated drops or liquid.  If this sounds like it may be the case with your iphone, give us a call at 443.863.9738 or come into the store at 2621 Eastern Ave, Baltimore MD. Diagnostics are free!  We’ll let you know what’s going on inside your iphone (we’ll even show you if its liquid damage), and give you a quote for the part replacement or repair.

To recap, some flashing or stuck apple logos are caused by software and can be fixed by placing your iphone in recovery mode and doing an update or restore with itunes.

The other main reason is damage to internal parts which requires replacement or repair of the phone itself.  Contact your local cell phone repair shop, and if you’re in Baltimore stop by and see us at Mobile Lizard Cell Phone Repair.
