Hey all! Due to the overwhelming email response to our craigslist bad esn blog post – We’re putting up the solutions for all to see.
Situation 1. – BAD IMEI or Blocked IMEI phone:
Bad/Blocked imei phones are those that operate on the GSM networks. The main 2 in the USA are Tmobile, and AT&T.
- Mobilelizard does provide a service for users of Samsung phones which have been blocked. To find out more, head to our website http://www.mobilelizard.com and look at the imei repair service.
- Sell to someone that will use outside the USA only . A bad/blocked imei phone is useless in the USA for the most part. AT&T and Tmobile have a combined blocked imei list . That phone is blocked in the USA. However, if a blocked imei phone is UN-locked (carrier block removed so it can freely accept other sim cards to work with the phone) and taken out of the USA, it usually works when a foreign sim card is placed in it. This may change in the future, but for now it still works.
- Sell to any repair store for parts. Don’t expect to get the replacement cost of your phone here, but at least you’ll get some money back.
- Some customers have mentioned they have craigslist sellers sign a document saying they’ve sold the phone to someone else. If anyone’s done this and had success forcing the carriers to turn service back on to their phone – or even gotten feedback on what the phone companies are saying when presented with the documentation post in the feedback.
Situation 2. – BAD ESN or Blocked ESN phone:
This refers to blocked phones on Verizon/Sprint/Boost/Nextel/Cricket/MetroPCS and all phones on cdma networks.
- Sell to any repair store for parts.
- Sell to someone that will use outside the USA . This only works if the phone you bought has a sim card slot for GSM usage. Surprise!!! The rest of the world uses sim cards. They’ll have to get the phone sim unlocked. For iphones, gevey or RSim provides a fix.
- Flash the phone to another carrier. This is a great fix for anyone who doesn’t mind changing carriers. In many cases the plans are less. As long as the carrier you are flashing to will accept the phone you’ll have a fully functional phone once you’re flashed over. You may have 3G instead of 4G in some cases, but that’s a better alternative to a paperweight.

I have 2 T-mobile Note 3’s that will soon be locked. T-mobile mis-informed me about my monthly rates (post paid, no contract), deposits, costs, etc and my service ends February 2, 2014. How can I change service to At&t or Verizon without ending up with a brick phone? Is there a way to keep these phones unlocked or to unlock them if T-Mobile locks the phones? Will they still be usable on wifi even if locked?
On the note 3 there’s no way to switch to at&t at the moment. You can, however unlock the note 3s for sale overseas. T mobile and AT&T phones will not work on verizon.
Hey I bought a Samsung note 2 on kijiji and it’s a Rogers phone and its unlocked so when I went and picked it up it worked so I took it. 3 weeks later it out of no where it showed up as unregistered sim card I’m with mts. So I brought it in to get looked at and I find out the imei is black listed. Not I found a while mother board for sale from a good phone if I change motherbords will it work then?
Sure if you change motherboards it should work just fine assuming the new motherboard isn’t connected to a bad imei.
I have an lg e-980 that i purchased through craigslist. It worked fine when i got it. I transferred it to my net 10 account then 2 day later it shuts down saying network blocked . I called and they told me the imei is blocked what can i do

I bought an iPhone 5s from CS for Tmobile, The phone worked fine for 5 days and one day it showed no service. I called Tmobile and they told me that the same person that sold it to me had the phone reported as stolen and therefore they blocked the IMEI. I could easily take this phone to Mexico, will it work there? What do I need to do so that it works outside the US?

I have a Sprint branded S3 that I bought & is apparently attached to an unpaid delinquent account. I only paid a few $’s for it in mint condition. It serves well as a wifi device but seems a shame that I cant use it for anything else that im willing to pay for. Basically I’d love to get this phone operational even with just 3g on StraightTalk. Is that possible & who can do this for me? If thats just impossible then I’d like to get it on pageplus. I just find it unreasonable to contemplate paying off said friends balance just to gain functionality on Sprint. Once another carrier will accept the phone’s esn you will be able to use it successfully on that carrier. You’re likely to be successful with a cdma carrier like page plus.

Bought a tmobile iphone 5s on craigslist. Found out the phone has a bad imei ..outstanding balance. Called my carrier tmobile and she told me the original crooks reported the phone lost and the phone has a balance due. The rep at tmobile says I could go to the store and get a sims card and the phone will work???? But reading all the post on bad imei, the phone may or may not work after a while???? There’s not a whole lot you can do with a tmobile iphone 5s. you can try looking in your area on craiglist – I am seeing there are people who say they can fix this issue. If you can’t find anyone you can try selling it for overseas use.

Most phones can be unlocked even though the esn/imei is bad. If you are using in mexico with telcel, verizon/att/tmobile are your best bet. Tmobile iphones cannot be factory unlocked with a bad imei and must use a manual unlock. It would be very difficult to use a sprint network iphone. Sprint iphones are difficult to unlock, and as sprint almost never unlocks their gsm slots for non customers, you would have to use a manual unlock with an Rsim. At the moment, rsim unlocks do not work for Sprint 5c or 5s, and any sprint phone which has been updated to 7.1 and above.

Sounds like the owner called it in lost once they got the money from you. You can try getting back your money/reporting it to the police, but failing that yes the note 3 can be fixed. Whether it will work on metro or boost depends on what carrier it is locked to now.

Hi, we bought three phones from ex-roommate, they all worked fine for 6 months, and all the sudden stopped working today. Took it to T-Mobile, they said they blocked IMEI on all the phones, but they were willing to pay $200, $160 and $120 to buy back the phone. Well, we paid a lot more for those phones and they’re offering, and if we sell them back, we’ll have to buy full price phones again. My ex-roommate left the country back in Nov, so there’s no way we can track him down to get our money back either.
Any ways to get them working again? They’re Samsung S4, LG G2, and Samsung Note 2.

Not advisable. If you want to use tmobile or att – buy one of those phones. A clean esn verizon that’s unlocked will give you talk and text but data may be unreliable or 2g/3G at best. A bad Esn verizon may work for a few weeks, but will eventually get blocked no matter what sim is in there.
I just bought a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 Bad ESN is there anyway of clearing it.
This phone can be flashed to other carriers, such as cricket/boost/pageplus – however there is no way to ‘clear’ it for use on Sprint.

The sprint galaxy s4 can be unlocked to accept gsm sim cards. This process is not the same as it is for gsm compatible phones. It requires specific software and an understanding of the android OS.

Your 5s can be unlocked if it is AT&T once it is, you can then use with the Aussie Sim.

Sorry, there isn’t exactly any known way around this issue. If he’s claimed insurance on it verizon will never unblock it as its been collected on. Sell to someone for use overseas and get another phone.
Verizon LTE phones are required by FCC to be SIM-unlocked. Does Verizon block the GSM IMEI or just the CDMA identifier? It would be worth borrowing a nano-sim to see if the GSM side of the iPhone can be used on a GSM carrier or do the GSM and CDMA carriers now share blocking data?
tricky question – most newer verizon models have no esn (cdma identifier) specifically but an imei number. Older models have both or just the esn. depending on which one you do have, they start with the esn – then if the tower identifies it the sim card slot is blocked as well. It may last a while before that happens of course. Its worth a shot.

The activation depends on the overseas carriers – most of the world does not use CDMA technology (us cellular) it uses GSM technology (ATT& Tmobile), the person you are selling it to should do their research before buying.

Once your phone is blocked, the networks share information so it is blocked across tmobile/att and all prepaid carriers who use their towers. In the case of your phone it may work on a tmobile network once it is unlocked, but the length of time it will last is uncertain.

How about with Sprint? I had the same thing happen, I reported my phone lost, they started the process to ship me another one and while it was in the mail I called and let them know that I found my phone. Which they allowed to stay activated. When the new phone arrived, they wouldn’t let me return it. Now the brand new phone can’t be activated because it is blacklisted. Can this be flashed to another network besides sprint?
It depends on the make or model of the phone.

AS its a Sprint phone chances are it can be flashed. Try http://www.eflashers.com, they do remote flashing so you don’t have to leave home. Let them know mobilelizard referred you, they should give you our customer pricing.

Don’t buy it. Sprint will not unlock the phone so you can use the sim card slot. At the moment you’d have to do a manual unlock, which remains hit or miss. iOS 8 will be released soon as well, which will make it even more difficult.

Sprint is not a GSM service. Sprint phones are also extremely difficult to unlock. You can buy a bad IMEI AT&T phone which can be unlocked and used outside the usa. BAD IMEI Tmobiles (samusung, lg htc) can also be bought and easily unlocked with the exception of iphones, which won’t be factory unlocked easily because of the bad imei. R sim is a solution for iphones however since iOs upgraded to 7.1 Sprint unlocking with an rsim is extremely challenging

An apple ID locked phone is next to impossible to bypass on anything other than an iphone 4. only apple will unlock it, and that’s only if you can answer their questions correctly.

You can head to tmobile and ask them to put it in your name/account. If they are not able to do so and you don’t have a receipt or invoice to prove purchase with the owner of record’s name on it, you may not be able to transfer it into your name.

we don’t know of any fixes that will allow you to use your at&t 4 on cricket. Cricket and AIO wireless have merged, essentially making cricket an AT&T company. As your bad esn phone is already AT&T there’s no getting around that issue. For metro the phone will have to be unlocked. Bad IMEI unlock for iphones are expensive, and probably cost more than you paid for the phone. It wouldn’t work there either as the phone would likely be blocked by metro (tmobile) as well. Sell your phone to someone who will use it outside the usa.

The phone IS compatible per Straight Talk with purchase of a T-Mobile or AT&T micro sim. It wasn’t until I attempted to activate the phone with the T-Mobile sim from straight talk that I became aware I’d been sold a problem!

A note 3 retails for at least $600-$700 Paying $260 should have been an indicator this was not a deal. The phone will not work on tmobile towers going forward.

Its generally not advisable to buy phones like verizon and sprint (cdma networks) to be used on at&t and tmobile – (gsm networks). The switch may work if you do verizon to tmobile/at&t but gets complicated when you try to do it the other way. Verizon sim cards are generally used to facilitate their 4g LTE service, unlike at&t and tmobile sims which are used for all functions. You can unlock your at&t galaxy s5, if you have a verizon sim already you can put it in the slot and see what kind of service you will get. However you will not be able to do an activation on Verizon outright, as they will tell you the phone is not compatible.
I am needing a new phone to use on my Verizon account. If I buy a Verizon Galaxy S4 with a bad esn can it be fixed to use on my Verizon account. My other Galaxy S4 does not work so I want to take the sim out of it and put in this new phone. Can it be fixed?

If you want to stay on sprint, the only thing you can do is find the owner and get him to pay it off. Otherwise, you’ll have to move to another network.

Doubtful. Sprint barely unlocks legitimate phones. They will not unlock bad esn/imei phones.
I bought a Sprint Samsung Galaxy SIII on Craigslist. Swappa said the ESN was clear, but Sprint cannot activate it. They say it must have been moved to another carrier and the ESN removed from their pool. Is there a way to find who owns the ESN so I can see about getting it released back to Sprint?
Dial 611 and see what service you get. Its probably been flashed to another carrier – there are clues in the phone. Look in the settings under about phone as well. Once its been flashed off a network you’ll have to have it flashed back onto the old network.

I purchased a tmobile samsung note 3 off ebay $685 in Oct 2013, got it activated and suddenly it stopped work today with ‘not registered on network” message and just found out today that the seller (whose ebay account is now suspended) stopped making payments (which I didn’t know about) and therefore IMEI is now blocked. I tried to change networks to AT&T with no success. Are these any options for me?

AT&T does not unlock bad imei nokias. They may have a solution in Mexico, but for under contract or bad imei nokias there’s no solution we know of at this time.

hello. You can get it flashed to maybe cricket or boost. We can also clean the esn for verizon phones if lost or stolen (blacklisted) however the phone must be activated on the veizon network once cleaned.

verizon will not activate a gsm non verizon phone. If the phones identifier esn/imei is not in the database they do not activate.
At the moment tmobile/att s5 bad imei cannot be repaired. But the phone can still be unlocked to be used outside of the usa.

It depends on what model phone. Some verizon phones come unlocked and can be used with another carrier sim. If the esn is clean you should be able to activate on verizon. You should call and ask them exactly what the issue is with activating it

Page plus is a verizon mvno – meaning it works on verizon towers. A page plus conversion from AT&T is very difficult. You are better off selling that S4 and buying a sprint phone if you do want to go to Page plus. Otherwise, use red pocket or H20 with ATT phones.

As a previous Boost Mobile Customer Care rep I will inform you that any phone you flash or root over to Boost Mobile, Boost will eventually find out the phone is not a Boost Mobile phone and they can suspend and terminate your account due to this being a violation of their Terms & Conditions. Also if you were able to successfully put it on a Boost Mobile account without them finding out(usually flashing the phone to a Boost Mobile esn/imei works in most scenarios) if you have any issues with your service, Boost Mobile will not be able to assist you due to the fact that they only have troubleshooting steps for specified Boost phones. In some cases the phone comes unlocked – ie. Verizon phones now have their sim slot unlocked. You may not get 4g LTE speed however. Sprint phones can be risky – some can be unlocked but Do your research in your town/city before buying a sprint phone hoping to use a sim card. Android sprint phones can be flashed to other carriers but a sim conversion is often tricky. There is a reason why bad esn sprint phones are sold for pennies on the dollar.

Once unlocked yes. You should be looking for an ATT or Tmobile model. Those are easier to unlock.

You will need an IMEI fix. YOu can put a sim card in for att, and it may even work for a while. eventually it will get shut down by att also. At that point an imei fix is the only solution.

A bad IMEI tmobile iphone can be tricky. It may not be able to be unlocked with a factory unlock for use outside the usa. You can try the factory unlock, but if its been reported chances are it will bounce back. You can do an rsim unlock for use in mexico. That should work fine.
Ok, here is my question/dilemma. I bought a brand new Galaxy S5 from Verizon. Had it only a week and lost it. Thankfully I had insurance and was able to get a brand spanking new replacement right away.
3 weeks go by, and while cleaning out my laundry room guess what I find buried under a basket of whites??? The phone I lost and had to replace! I can only speculate as to how it arrived at its unusual location – believe my darling 4 year old had a hand in it 🙂

Yes, you can take it back to verizon. You already claimed your insurance from them, so they may have rules in place about it depending on how much time has passed. I’d walk into a store and ask – can’t hurt. worst case scenario you can always sell on ebay for overseas use if they continue to block it in the usa
Won a bid on a T-Mobile ( U.S.A) Nokia Lumia 925 so I could use it on my network in Canada as Lumia 820 didn’t work on the 1700/2100 ghz required hence i researched and found T mobiles phones run on that frequency so i went to ebay and bid and won the 925 Lumia. I checked the IMEI on Tmobiles site and called them to make sure it wasn’t stolen it wasn’t! However the phone was still tied to an account and the account was placed on lock and the phone blocked because it was on a monthly payment plan and the account holder had stopped making payments. Np harm no foul getting this info as I live in Canada and there is no Tmobile here but they would not give me an unlock code. So I went and sent an order off to cellunlock.net few days later i contacted them and mentioned I wasn’t worried about time frame ( 5 to 12 ) was the the time they gave and I asked them about the email i received that said they needed to check another data base – after a few moments she said because I mentioned the phone was blocked they code not give me code !! Very pissed because that was a waste of money ( although refunded ) and 7 days of waiting !! The phone being blocked should not effect me getting it unlocked in another country and another network the block is to the IMEI on the tomoblie network not in another country or provider in another country ..Is it possible to get this unlocked or did I win/purchase a 225 dollar paper weight !!?? 🙁
Some unlock codes are released by manufacturers, some are released by providers. If the unlocker cannot get it via tmobile then you should purchase a nokia manufacturer unlock. Look for european unlocker company. They may be able to assist you. If they cannot, then yes – you are stuck with a paperweight.
I am looking to buy a Sprint LG G3 to be used internationally (Canada). Yes, the phone will be identified by at&t once you try to use it. It will be blocked off any network. The sim you put in may be decomissioned by AT&T

Ok so i bought an T-Mobile LG G2 and the phone was working perfectly. Untill two weeks, my phone didnt want to read my sim. But i notice my phone was not catching service. Any bad imei phone can be unlocked, this does not mean it will work with other carriers in the USA. While it will accept and recognize the sim, your phone will be blocked from using any signal towers. You would need someone with the knowledge to fix your phone.

verizon phones – s3 and above all come unlocked. They should work fine once outside the country – just a matter of apn and gsm settings on the phone.

Most flashers can currently flash sprint phone to page plus. Look in your local craigslist for someone who can flash you. Flashers may choose not to do sprint phones to certain carriers, but it can be done.

There is no 3rd party unlock for sprint phones that will allow it to work the way you need it to as a GSM phone. Sprint is the only one that does it, and as its blacklisted that’s no longer a possibility.

once you are in the usa, if the phone originated in the usa it will eventually cease to work. It may roam with your el salvadorean sim until the towers recognize it and shut down your signal.

No. Sprint is not a GSM compatible phone. There is no real carrier unlock for the Sprint Galaxy phones. Its technically possible to flash the phone with a GSM profile, however as it is a cdma carrier the chances of your being able to use it effectively – with talk text and 4g data are doubtful.

Generally tmobile/att are easier to unlock – with the exception of ATT Nokias, and tmobile iphones. Blacklisted Tmobile iphones are more difficult to unlock and in some cases the unlock is not possible.

I Unlocked it about 1 year and half when I went Bahrain and asked the T-Mobile customer service team to give me the 10 digits code to unlock it which they did, then worked perfectly. However, I’m having issue with T-mobile now regarding mixed records and somehow they’ve put my account as tremendous unpaid account for some reason I don’t know why. I’ve been trying to explain to them but ended up having to pay over 2K balance unpaid, so they blocked the IMEI of the Blackberry and now it’s useless. It has been on black screen and unused since they blocked the IMEI. I’m in USA now, will my Blackberry work fine if I went to Bahrain or any near cities there ?

Not all verizon phones are unlocked for GSM use. If you buy a bad esn verizon phone which is not unlocked it will be difficult to get it done in most cases. Try sticking to tmobile or att phones.

You can buy AT&T or Tmobile. Understand you will have to pay to get it fixed so it works properly and factory that into your purchase price.

I have just purchased an HTC from craigslist, it is an AT&T phone and I am on Straight Talk. I finally got it setup using a sim from straight talk and the phone was dialing out and texting fine, but when I setup the APN to use the internet and MMS, the phone was blocked.
So I called Straight Talk for assistance. There is no fix for this particular situation that will get it working in the usa again.
I just recently bought a HTC One M8 on the Sprint Network and went to the Sprint store and verified it was clear and deactivated from the account. When I got home I found out that it actually is still linked the sprint account and I can make calls and texts. I have put it on flight mode and am trying to figure out how to proceed. The owner will not buy back and will not pay to ETF, so their account will be linked to this number. What are my options? Do I flash it to another carrier and sell it? Do I sell it still linked to the account? I’m new to sprint and the policies so a little confused.
There’s not a whole lot you can do in this situation, but f you can get rid of it and get your money back that’s always good. If you can’t, there’s no easy way to get it working on sprint. You can flash it to page plus and get it up and running that way.

I purchased a Galaxy S5 that was on the Sprint network from an acquaintance, and have been searching around about the IMEI number. I need to switch it to TMOBILE because that is who i have service with. when i did the imei search on the tmobile website, it told me it was “stolen”. when I search the IMEI on every other database I can find it tells me there it is not blacklisted or reported as anything. How can I get the real deal? and if it is reported that way with tmobile, am I going to be able to unlock it?
Also, I am a Linux user and was wondering if there is any way to ROOT the phone and maybe reset the IMEI or something?

The sprint s5 is not compatible with the tmobile network. No rooting will allow it to work on that network. It has nothing to do with the imei. You’re better off moving over to redpocket.

Hi, I bought an lg g flex from t-mobile 9 months ago and paid cash for it. I wanted to switch to metro pcs so I called customer care and ask for an unlock code and they sent an email with it fallowed the steps and unlocked successfully. You have a couple of issues. You are not able to activate on a separate sprint because its still linked to an account. To use in the usa, you can try to move it to another carrier which will take sprint – net 10 or redpocket, but you may not be able to as its linked to another account. If this fails, you can unlock it for gsm use – There are people who do sell this unlock, be aware that if the phone is updated or hits the apple server for any reason it will relock. Once unlocked it can be used outside the usa. You will know its unlocked when a non AT&T sim is accepted by the phone. There are also online checks you can run to see whether the phone is unlocked.

Just because a phone has a sim card slot does not always mean it can be used on a gsm network like att or metro or tmobile. This is the case with sprint us cellular and older cricket phones. So, NO you cannot easily move a sprint iphone to att or metro. it is possible, but very expensive and not worth it seeing as it will shortly be blocked by Sprint.

If it was activated with rsim 10 and shows a signal you probably need to check your settings for the rsim. A blacklisted sprint phone won’t be blacklisted outside of the usa

There is no flashing available for tmobile iphones that we know of. The iphone 6 that is blacklisted won’t work in the us unless tmobile lifts the blacklist. There’s no 3rd party fix. The iphone 5s should work if its clean and you put your tmobile card in it.

You can have a company like these guys repair your iPhone IMEI. It will work and not get blocked again.

Look at local stores in your area who flash us cellular to other carriers. Its likely you won’t be able to use on us cellular, but perhaps on another carrier.

Sprint iphone 5 series is difficult to unlock with the Rsim inside the usa. A bad esn just makes it twice as difficult. Skip the bad esn purchase. Skip sprint altogether.

check the imei at one of the many checkers online. To the best of my knowledge only contracted phones can be blocked. If you don’t owe your mobile service provider any money, then the problem is the phone.
Hello. I purchased a note 4 T-mobile off of Craiglist. Found out it was blocked. Paid to have the imei changed and currently using on Simple Mobile network. It worked for about a month and then it said not registered I believe so I was unable to make calls,send messages or use the internet. Took it back to the store and they put another imei. I’m able to make calls but no 4g,picture mail or internet access. Looked up the imei on the back after I removed the battery and it’s showing good. However when I use the *# obtion to look up the flashed one it says not found. What can I do? Very frustrated.

Sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately you cannot downgrade to ios 7. No matter what you do at this point that phone is blocked. As its an att phone there’s not alot that can be done.

Thanks for the kind words. Our advice is really never to buy a bad imei phone. It costs money to correct issues if they in fact are correctable. Depending on the make and model it can get expensive. Some bad imei gsm phones can be got as a bargain if you intend to unlock and use it overseas only. The entire situation with bad esn/imei phones is constantly in flux and can change at any moment, rendering any fix useless. Hello – the only person who can remove a phone from an account is the the named person on the account. The carrier (in this case verizon) will not allow anyone else to remove it from the account.

You likely bought a stolen phone – never scanned in store. There’s not really anything you can do to get it on verizon that we know of. You could see if there’s some store locally that might be able to put your phone on another carrier.

At the moment Sprint phones have an issue being moved to other sprint based carriers (mvno’s) phones are coming up at not financially eligible even if they are 100% clean. No one but sprint can correct this issue for you. Or, you can wait until they resolve the issue and your phone starts coming back as clean on checklist. No one knows when this will be.

Sprint phones are not equipped to work on cricket’s new network. The technologies are not compatible. It will never work on cricket.

Its never a good idea to buy a bad esn/imei phone on purpose. Even if you pay 1/5th of the value you may still end up with a useless brick. The answer to your question is NO on the sprint s5, and possibly on the verizon – however you would end up having to pay someone to fix it for you, and it may not be worth it.

I bought a galaxy s3 about a year and a half ago, the internet worked in Tennessee somewhat (but not great) I moved to Austin and was unable to use the internet it does not work here for what reason I don’t know. The guys at Metro said that I could not use for internet here, but maybe in waco TX. ????? They did not tell me it has a bad esn or IMEI nor did they say it was black listed. Of course I bought one from metro as I needed GPS. I did take it to another Metro store letting them know I all ready had service with them with another phone.( so they wouldn’t try to sell me another phone ) What on earth can I do?

without knowing the history of the phone (original carrier) or current tower situation in your geographical region we are unable to provide a specific response. Generally speaking however, its possible if you had an unlocked non-tmobile/metro phone it did not have the band capability for their higher end services (4g/LTE). This would effectively shut down your data service.

Buying a bad esn/imei phone deliberately is not advisable, however Glad you asked. The esn or imei is like the phone’s fingerprint. Its embedded in the phone. It identifies the phone to the cell towers and networks. No matter what sim card you put in, they’ll always see the phones imei/esn. The sim card may be good, but if the imei/esn is bad the tower/network will reject it.

you can run the imei on any of several sites available for free online – call the carrier directly. Some carriers have a search functions on their sites for this purpose. tmobile/verizon.
Understand that this only gives you the status of the imei at the time that you run it. It can go bad later due to unpaid bills, or the owner calling it in lost/stolen.

I have a Blacklisted/stolen verizion HTC someone said my local phone store can flash it with a new MEID is that true can they replace it and get it to work on pageplus. Page plus would not activate it cause the MEID being bad.

Hello I purchased the Deal of The Day from Groupon a refurbished iPhone 6 on the T-Mobile network and it lasted 22 days!! Now it says no service and Groupon has explained their vendors rules are 10 day return policy on all purchases! So I have a large nice iPod! Sorry there is no way to unblock it, and yes – I’m afraid it is legal. Its likely the sellers did not know the phone had an issue since it did not manifest until after you bought it. The imei would display as clean until suddenly, its not. You can try to recoup your money by selling on ebay.

You will need to find professional help to re-establish an imei. In any case, its likely not worth it as metro must register each imei in their system. You’ll need to switch carriers if you ever want to use this specific phone.

There is currently no factory unlock available for blacklisted tmobile phones. If you did unlock it, you might be able to use a verizon sim, but you would not receive all phone features. tmobile phones are not manufactured to run on verizon’s 4g lte towers.

A note 3 from verizon comes factory unlocked, however when the phone is reported lost/stolen Verizon will rescind the unlock. Since you have moved over to page plus, there really is not simple way of unlocking it, as verizon no longer has the phone in its database.

The seller turned around and burned you by reporting it lost/stolen. There really isnt a fix for a blocked at&t 6+ Since you don’t want to sell for parts your best bet is to unlock it and sell it on ebay to someone overseas (the unlock is available on our website – mobilelizard.com) it will have more value to overseas buyers.

I did a switch with someone off the internet i had a verison galaxy s4 that i was using a prepaid card from walmart she gave a sprint galaxy mega that she said was unlocked but unfortunately it isnt ive put a cricket card and t-moble card and it says invalid sim card i dont want to go pay the verison bill if its not gonna work i dont know if the phone is bad but is there a way that i can get it unlocked and use it for verison prepaid card like i did befor and be able to text and call i really dont want any other carrier
Sprint phones are difficult to unlock. Think you got the rough end of this deal.

It will be difficult to use a blacklisted sprint note 4 in the usa your carrier choices will be very limited its not always certain you will get talk text and data

Based on the mutual agreement between page plus and verizon, any verizon phone with a bad or blocked esn/imei will not work on page plus unless remedied.

Two questions: a few months ago I received an iPhone 5s and checked the IMEI number on imeidata.net. It is black listed on ATT but NOT on cricket. Says it’s clean. Can I activate this phone on my cricket account? I also recently bought an iPhone 6+ that has a clean IMEI number, but it’s registered to sprint. I’ve gotten mixed responses on changing it over. Blacklisted at&t iphones and blacklisted at&t phones in general cannot be used on Cricket’s network – unlocked or not. Cricket uses AT&T towers and is essentially AT&T – just cheaper. The sprint iphone if clean, can be unlocked. Then it can be used on Cricket.

depends on the phone and the carrier. Sometimes there is no fix. Offer up might be affordable but its best to stay with sources that won’t sell you bad imei phones

To the best of our knowledge there is no way to get around a blacklisted stolen iphone from AT&T that will allow you to use it in the USA

nexus 6 – should have come unlocked. its possible tmobile relocked it when the bill was not paid. If it is still unlocked you may be able to use another service.

No. there is only 1 network it might work on, you may get talk/text prob no data and the unlock for a sprint iphone that has a bad imei is quite expensive. you’re better off getting another phone.

hello yes, if you do not pay bills your phones will become blocked with bad imeis. Unfortunately because of the types of phones you have there is no easy way around it. The 6+ will be useless inside the usa unless unlocked. the htc one m8 may be able to be fixed . YOu may have to switch carriers on both from tmobile.

Bad imei = any phone that is blocked or blacklisted. A blocked phone has been blocked for non payment. A blacklisted phone has been reported lost or stolen.

if you haven’t paid your verizon iphone bill, you will find they have blocked your phone from accessing signal towers. Your verizon phone needs to be unlocked – you can always try putting your straight talk card in there as the phone should be unlocked, but this may not work.
